BERLIN - A German official on Monday denied reports that a Saudi woman had been abused or humiliated during security controls at Munich airport - but confirmed that the male guard involved in the dispute would be sacked.
The official - speaking on the condition of anonymity - underlined that the Saudi woman had been checked by a female security guard and that German airport regulations stipulate woman are always checked by woman and men by men.
"A male security guard touched her on the shoulder after the check. But he did not strike, abuse or humiliate her," said the official.
Nevertheless, the male security guard will lose his job over the incident, the official said:
"We will dismiss him."
The Saudi newspaper Arab News quoted the German Embassy in Riyadh as saying authorities investigated allegations by the Saudi passenger that a male security guard abused and struck her and found that the guard had breached the code of conduct for German airport employees.
"There are clear instructions that officials must be courteous and respectful to passengers, in addition to being considerate of the wishes of passengers who want to be searched behind screens," the statement said, alluding to the incident that took place on May 8.
Many conservative Saudi women adhere to a strict dress code that involves covering themselves from head to toe and not exposing any part of their body to a male who is not a close relative.

Embora para nós não seja nada de transcendente,o facto de o segurança ter tocado a dita Srª é de facto uma falha no trato para com alguém de outros costumes(em especial um povo de não tão "brandos" costumes).
Quem contacta com as mais variadas culturas,em especial profissionalmente tem de ter estes factores em conta. Acraditem que não é facil por vezes,pois sem nos apercebermos podemos de facto estar a "ofender" ou a "insultar" indirectamente.
Muitas são as historias contadas em especial por Colegas que fizeram/fazem võos Hadj,e hoje em dia ainda são muitos os Portugueses que por aquelas bandas andam.
Quanto ao pobre do Segurança,penso que o facto de ter sido "dispensado" se deve acima de tudo a um querer evitar qualquer quezilia Diplomática por parte das Autoridades Alemãs.
